Gabrielle

Former lover and dear friend of Lazaro. An ambitious people person who secretly wants to be safe and vulnerable for a change.

Personality

Gabrielle is genuinely charismatic, and not in the self important deceitful way. She can feel like a kindred soul to anyone no matter their background. Easy to laugh and make witty joke, facillitating social interaction. Will make small talk to a random stranger (unless in a hostile environment). While she does like chit chatting, what she really gets enjoyment out of is a deeper conversation, musing back and forth with somone about the more meaningful things in life. If she were an online type, she would definately frequent a niche forum. Likes reading political theory and philosphy for this reason.

She's a "type A" person, who if she wants something done, will get it done. She can sometimes be stubborn and overly independant, as well as competitive, often losing sight of the orginal goal in favor of preserving her pride. This is her nature, ever since she was a young kid, but she recognizes she'll burn her self out this way, and is trying to accept that its okay to be the one helped, or give up on something unfulfilling.

Its this stubborness that would conflict with Lazaro's own stubborness, sometimes leading to irreconcilable arguments. Even petty things neither would relent over. Despite their heated disagreements, they hold no ill will towards one another, Gabrielle retaining a soft spot for Lazaro. She may even bring up past disagreements as a joke, to push his buttons a little (unfortunately for him, she knows all his hot buttons ♥).

She enjoys friendly ribbing, both to do to her friends and have done for her. Nothing makes her grin harder than when a friend playfully calls her out.

Gabrielle tends to be more emotionally mature than her friends, and often finds herself giving advice to them. She does find satisfaction in helping, but it can get exhausting, especially when she has no one to lean on herself. Wouldn't it be nice to break down into someone's shoulder and be the one comforted? She wants this, but has difficulty letting herself be vulnerable. It's quite terrifying really.

Gabrielle tends to share a background with Lazaro. Here are some more specific settings:

Magic Apocalypse Story

Like Lazaro, Gabrielle is a mage, but much better at controlling her magic, though it is not nearly as strong as his. She has tried to help him tame his magic, but her ambitious approach pushes him too hard, and he gets frustrated, making his magic harder to control. She knows what happened with Lazaro and is sticking beside him, despite the risk it puts her in. Ride or die.

Star Trek AU

Gabrielle is the ships captain, which she is well suited for! She is excellent at diplomacy and navigating unsure relations between cultures. She is also of course, not afraid to take action.

Lazaro is her second in commmand, not just because of their relationship, but because she specifically wanted someone who would challenge her. Because of her confidence and you know, role as captain, most are hesitant to counter her decisions. Except Lazaro. He will make it clear when he disagrees and why. She has the ultimate say however and is not afraid to make the final call. Previously their work disagreements would turn up in their personal relationship, making it difficult for them to separate their personal life and work life. Because of this, they had to break off their romantic partnership, though they are still good friends (with some lingering feelings).

Relationships

Lazaro

Depending on the setting or AU, Gabrielle will have known Lazaro since they were young 20s or even teens. Lazaro is bold and full of emotion, having a bit of a rebellious air when he was younger that Gabrielle found quite alluring. She was a little rebellious too, but not as defiant towards authority. Her good sense probably kept Lazaro from taking too big of risks. They fell in love hard, and being young it was a bit tumultuous and very passionate. In a sense they've matured together, so even though they're no longer together, theres a strong bond between them that can never be replaced.

She broke up with him, as she matured and worked past emotional hang ups and he still struggled with the same things, leaving her feeling like she was at a different stage of life from him and less of an equal. It was an excruciatingly hard decision to make, but the emotional turmoil was too much.

Now that their relationship is more causal, they like to go out together, usually with shared friends (or friends of hers who tolerate him). They have many inside jokes and stories, and like to tease one another.

In each setting Laila is a love Gabrielle finds during the story, they never knew each other before. As such their relationship is quite fresh and not well developed. Gabrielle finds Laila very endearing, and her gentle demeanor to be comforting. Laila is not very social, so you won't often see her hanging out with Gabrielle and Gabrille's friends, but she is there at the end of the day for Gabrielle to relax and unwind with.

Gabrielle doesn't always follow what Laila talks about regarding her interests, but she loves how Laila's face lights up.

Love languages

Giving

Gabrielle tends towards acts of service, quality time, and gift giving. She particularly likes planning events to do with friends, such as for birthdays, which incorperates all of these. She's the kind that would plan a suprise party. She also tends to keep track of peoples interests and tastes, so that when she sees something that reminds her of them, she can get it for them.

Receiving

Gabrielle likes recieving acts of service, really appreciating when people return the favor (rather than it being one sided). If someone does not put in equal effort, she may pull away. She definately appreciates a gift, even if its not something she would have gotten for herself, feeling touched that she was thought of. Loves deep conversations, so quality time is a top received love too.
