Favorite Personal Sites

(and Webcomics)

I initially had a button wall on my homepage, but as I found more and more cool sites, it became unwieldy and cumbersome to update, but of course linking to other small websites is what keeps the small web alive, so heres my compromise. Since there are fewer sites I now have room for descriptions! These are sites that I am inexplicably drawn to and keep coming back to.

These sites do not necessarily reflect my relationships with people on the web, but rather sites and web makers that stand out to me. Know that it is nothing personal if you are a friend of mine, but are not featured here.

Fabled Day
An eloquent writer who muses about the internet and its impact on culture (or vice versa). Very fascinating articles on specific internet related events/cultures and how they impacted the author.
Frammy Jammy
Digital artist who makes comics, animations, and various unique pages featuring her characters. Centers around Suzu, a troubled young boy who has a frought love-hate relationship with his alcoholic father. Her website is just as much of an artistic medium as the comics and animations.
Satyrs’ Forest
What can I say but wow... an intricate and elaborately designed site inspired by medieval manuscripts and pagan themes. So many pages on so many things, I haven't come close to exploring it all. Passionate about language and polytheism.
Nickolox
Biggest Waluigi enthusiast on the personal web! Chock full of purple and their own 3D models of their Mario sona! Combination of the gif filled old school designs with modern CSS, creating very fun and visually interesting pages.
Crotovane
Beautiful art displayed on an elegant yet warm and invitingly designed site.
Divergent Rays
Fellow cat lover who collects lots of cool links and revived the Kitty Friends pixel club, one of the first pixel clubs I joined! Old school vibes with small old gifs decorating links and pages :3
Lulu
A personal site inspired by the owners own days on angelfire, complete with old graphics, quiz on the side, and many hidden pages! Advocate of amateur personal sites and shitty code! not recently active, but still worth visiting.
Solinus
A young web designer whose designs feature skeuomorphism, glassmorphism, and solarpunk! Recommended a better css glass design for my cabinets on my pixel club page.
Starry's Grove
Bright and cozy personal site featuring art and more!

Webcomics

Okay these aren't exactly personal sites, but I wasn't sure where else to put them. If I had more media recomendations I would make a page for those, but since I don't, webcomics are going with personal sites for now! I think they deserve emphasis and descriptions outside of my general links page.

Gunnerkrigg Court

Teenage girl, Antimony, attends a boarding school in an old industrial city called "Gunnerkrigg Court", where the "court" has eshewed nature and myth for hard facts and science, despite relying on the mystical unknown. Annie is intune with this mystical side of the world and its creatures, where as her best friend Kat is scarily adept at all things technology. Annie and the reader slowly learn more about the court, gathering the looming sense that its plans are less than ethical. Its ultimate plan finally comes to head, colliding with the plan of a trickster god from the forest.

Started in 2005 and still running, yet following an intricate well planned plot, no shark jumping or other convoluted twists just for the sake of it. You will have to reread to understand whats going on. Well balanced scenes of gravity and silly comic humor. I own the current massive print volumes that are out.

Appropriate for young teens and older, can be dark, but not gorey.

O Human Star

The late android specialist, Al Sterling awakes from death, 16 years later, in a highly advanced android body, one uncomfortably similar to his original flesh body. He is delivered to his former inventor partner and lover, Brendan, who is determined to find out who was able to successfully transfer Al's mind and memories to an android, having attempted to do so 16 years ago when Al died, but beliving his efforts to be imperfect. The result was an android child who had to grow and learn through life, now a teenage girl named Sulla. Through flashbacks we see Al and Brendan's work and relationship develop, as well as the internal troubles that Al struggles to hide.

Started in 2012 and finished in 2020. Reread to enounter heart breaking forshadowing. I started reading this in 2016 before it ended, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I own all three print volumes, a gift from my dear friend Chicken

Keep in mind that this comic was finished before the proliferation of AI as we know it. Implied sex in a few flashback scenes, but nothing graphic. Includes internalized homophobia, and implied past self harm.

Dancing with the Dead

An inexperiened friendly vampire, Edgar, his quiet banshee girlfriend, Crystin, and the more experienced and bitter vampire, Clifford, seek a decent house to live in, as the housing given to them is literally a shack. This housing was given to them by the English Vampire Society, an old bureaucratic system that maintains the status quo, resistant to change and motion. Edgar gets a job as a valet for one of the members of the EVS council, August, a large paternalistic (in both the negative and positive senses) vampire, who is more sympathtic than most EVS councillors, but still an intimidating force to be reckoned with.

A deligfully fun vampire comic with charming art and characters. Started in 2022 and ongoing, released in chapters. Hosted on Neocities, and the author/artist also has a personal site! Pearlnight's Lair

Although full of humor, this comic does touch upon classism and implied sexual assault. It is also very NSFW, featuring a fair amount of tiddies, penises, and uncensored sex, including various BDSM scenes, though not all NSFW visuals are necessarily intended to titillate the reader.
